Origins: Bababudangiri Hills. Legend has it that Baba Budan, a Sufi saint, introduced coffee to India in the 17th century by smuggling seven beans from Arabia and planting them in the hills of Chikmagalur, which later came to be known as Baba Budan Giri in his honor.
